Morgan Stanley in the US Hires Merrill Private Banking Senior Manager

Morgan Stanley has hired Michael Rogers as regional director of private wealth management for Southern California. Mr Rogers joins from Merrill Lynch where he was a senior private banking executive. Mr Rogers fills a vacant job after the departure of Shelley Hanan, who left the post in December 2004, according to reports in the US press. James Gorman, the head of Morgan Stanley’s global wealth management group, the new name for the firm’s retail brokerage business, is likely to have been involved in hiring Mr Rogers. Mr Gorman was the former chief of Merrill’s private client group. Speculation in the US press suggests Mr Gorman is likely to want to tap more of his former colleagues at Merrill for senior jobs at his new employer.
